Last Light
Exploring the Drakensberg entails an immense exercise in patience, as one seeks out fleeting moments when conditions yield mere seconds of stunning light. I spent a significant portion of this particular in my tent, observing as mist and clouds continuously swirled around, offering no indication of hope for a breakthrough in light. However, to my surprise, a mere thirty seconds of light pierced through the ominous clouds moments before sunset, creating an incredible scene, one that made the six-hour ascent of 950 meters well worth it! The Woodland Kingfisher
Summer is an incredible time in the Kruger National Park, characterised by the call of the Woodland Kingfisher. I've tried for many years to get a good take-off photo of this Kingfisher, and I finally managed to capture one recently that I am very happy with. Kruger National Park, South Africa
Eye To Eye
Staring directly into the eyes of a predator must be one of the most exhilarating ways to enjoy photography. On this occassion just north of Satara, I had that opportunity and I must say, this is one of my all-time favourite portraits I have captured of a male Lion. I love the scars and character of him. Kruger National Park, South Africa
Mashatu Leopard
Evening sunlight fades and the cool air brings with it an atmosphere that is difficult to describe. If you’ve been on Safari in Africa, you’ll know what I mean. On a trip to Mashatu Game Reserve I enjoyed the photography of many Leopards… easily one of the best places on Earth to photograph them. Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana
Bathing In Golden Light
Early summer afternoons can reach extremely high temperatures in the Kruger, and water is scarce because of the dry winter. Here, a female Elephant enjoys a swim as the faint afternoon light casts a beautiful golden hue onto the scene. Kruger National Park, South Africa
After The Snow Storm
The sun breaks through from the east after two full days spent in the snow and thick cloud. This sunrise was spectacular, the golden light hitting the massive cliffs of the Amphitheatre, the foreground snow catching the light and clouds above completing the scene perfectly. I am very proud of this photo, it took a lot of suffering to get. Drakensberg Escarpment, South Africa

The Ghost Trees
Incredible morning light beams in from the east across the hauntingly beautiful landscape of Dead Vlei in Namibia. These trees have been cut off from the Tsaucheb River by the ever changing sand dunes, ending their supply of flowing water, and because of the incredibly dry environment, the trees do not decompose. Dead Vlei, Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Into The Desert Light
The sun rises in the east, soaking the barren and hostile landscape of the Namib Dune Sea in golden light. Fog from the Atlantic Ocean rolled in overnight, creating magnificent conditions for photography. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Ship Skeleton
The Milky Way Galaxy burns bright above the remains of the Shawnee Shipwreck on the western coastline of the Namib Desert. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
A Dusty Oblivion
Huge winds engulf the harsh landscape of the Namib Naukluft as the sun sets to the west, creating brilliant contrast between wind-swept sand and dune shadows. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
The Magenta Glow
I have never seen a twilight glow this strong before, and seeing that colour with stars appearing in the sky was magical. The Shawnee Shipwreck along the Namib Naukluft coastline made for an incredible subject underneath this insane light. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia.
Abstract Dune Field
The rising sun from the east accentuates the tops of repeating dunes in the Namib Desert, creating beautiful contrasts between light and dark. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Battling The Wind
A lone photographer battles the wind amongst the abstract shapes of the rolling dunes in the heart of the Namib Naukluft dune sea. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Deep Twilight Astro
The setting sun creates an incredible magenta glow in the atmosphere as the stars from the Milky Way shine bright above the remains of the Shawnee Shipwreck, slowly disappearing at the mercy of the Atlantic Ocean. Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
From North To Central-sharpened.jpg
The view from Icidi Pass is incredible, made even more incredible by a spectacular sunrise. The peaks in the foreground are the Mnweni Needles, and beyond that the Cathderal Ridge, and then in the far distance is Monks Cowl and Champagne Castle. Drakensberg Escarpment, South Africa
Coastline Pattern
Beautiful fine patterns form in the sand on the Betty's Bay beach in the Western Cape, softly accentuated by the faint setting sunlight. Betty's Bay, Western Cape, South Africa
Amphitheatre Arch
A beautiful rainbow forms immediately as a storm passes overhead, arching over the Devils Tooth and Eastern Buttress. I've waited for a long time to capture a rainbow over this location, and finally I was gifted with an incredible opportunity. Drakensberg Escarpment, South Africa
